Rebecca Mahoney's Fan Fiction

The Bistro on East 43rd

Eve Kendall slipped unnoticed into a corner bistro on the Upper East Side as a mild June afternoon settled beneath the Manhattan skyline.

The first to arrive, Eve perched primly on a stool at the mahogany panelled bar.  She handed her coat and hat to the porter, one gloved hand pushing the back of her ice blonde hair off her bare shoulders. A smartly uniformed barman stood before her, blocking the reflection she was admiring in the angled bar mirror.

“May I offer you something to drink Ma’am?”

“A Tom Collins, please. Without the cherry.”

Eve smoothed her dress and from a small brown leather purse, reapplied her crimson lipstick in the now unobstructed mirror. As usual, her outfit was carefully considered: A cream silk grosgrain dress, off the shoulder bodice and a full skirt to the calf with matching gloves and black stilettos.

A tall man in a double breasted suit sat across the bar from her, still wearing his hat. One eye was dark and piercing, the other covered by a suede patch of indeterminable colour. He drained his martini glass and signalled the barman for another, the gaze of his good eye never leaving Eve.

Cantilevered shutters cast dappled light across the restaurant, the exhale of Eve’s cigarette sending striped plumes of blue smoke dancing across the window. She turned her attention to the door, where a couple enter arm in arm and are seated in a booth by the door. Seeing that it wasn’t Roger she glanced at her wrist watch and returned to her drink.

Eve’s thoughts were interrupted by the waiter presenting a note on a small silver tray. Roger will be fifteen minutes late.

The one eyed man was still watching. Uneasy, Eve ordered another Collins and sipped it quietly, conscious of the man’s steely focus.

A siren wailed in the distance.
*

Ten minutes earlier Roger Thornhill was running down Lexington. The billowing smoke from eight blocks in front sent panic through his body and he knew he was going to be late. A siren cried out not far ahead, stopping the intersection at East 73rd. Imagining his new wife’s icey glare at his tardiness; Roger ran faster.
*

Ice cubes clinking at the bottom of her high ball gave Eve an excuse to retire to the powder room.  Looking over her shoulder, the one eyed man was watching. Feeling her pulse quicken, Eve locked the door behind her and sat at the small dresser in the entrance. Her tortoiseshell comb caught a strand of hair by the nape of her neck and broke.  She straightened and a familiar feeling of guilt mixed with fear stirred in her ribcage.

The one eyed man had moved two seats closer when Eve returned to the bar.  Roger was nowhere to be seen. Another drink materialised and Eve had only just sought refuge in the murmurings of her mind again when a grey Mercedes hurtled across the side walk and through the front window of the bistro.

As with the aftermath of many a disaster; a state of flux ensued. Screaming drinkers and diners were enveloped by dust and broken glass, falling masonry narrowly missing scattered bodies and thumping onto the bonnet of the badly damaged car. A steady stream of vapour cascaded from the Mercedes. The smoke lifted and those patrons able to walk stumbled towards the clearing.
Eve surfaced unharmed from under the booth she was thrown towards. Barely visible through the rubble, the driver of the grey Mercedes was crumpled motionless over the steering wheel. She pulled away the badly damaged door and cleared a hasty space on the ground with her foot to drag the man from his seat.

The driver was dead. The young man dropped heavily to Eve's feet, his glassy eyes unresponsive. Reeling, Eve discovered the driver's hands were tied behind his back. Tucked into the noose knot fastening was a note. Trembling, Eve unfolded it.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, MISS KENDALL.

Stumbling backwards, Eve turned on her heel and fled what remained of the restaurant. Hailing a cab through the surging crowd, she climbed in, failing to notice a man with a suede eye patch watching from the phone booth.

"To Grand Central. Now."

*

Gasping for air, Roger arrived to a chaotic scene. Emergency staff were everywhere and the remaining rubberneckers were milling about or slowly retreating back into apartments and stores to speculate further. It took Roger only a moment to realise that Eve was not there. Feeling ill, Roger bent over the curb and recomposed himself.

Just beyond his knees, a folded note fluttered in the drain. An instinctive cold sweat broke across his neck and he reached forward, the piece of paper flitting dangerously close to the storm water channel.  Roger opened it at the same time the cold metal of a .38 revolver firmly pressed between his shoulder blades.

Lavu Vallabh final copy . "The Heart Breaker"

It’s another day for the man of steel.  He wakes up early as usual and puts on his suit while Lois is already in the kitchen making breakfast. Clark flies to the city to grab Lois some flowers and gets back for breakfast in no time. The food is ready and Lois always makes sure her man of steel is well fed before he begins his day and therefore goes through the trouble of making a massive breakfast such as bacon and eggs, hash browns, pancakes cereal and porridge. Louise might as well just cook everything in the kitchen. They sit down outside and enjoy their food and beverages. The sun shines right across the field leaving the grass burnt and crispy the perfect area for raising a child. He kisses her on the lips and says good-bye. Lois doesn’t work because Clark forces her to stay home and be a housewife. However Lois is unhappy and sad because she was once the worlds best news reporter and now she lives in her own shadow afraid to make a stand against the man of steel. Her friends and family who know of her relationship think that she is in the perfect relationship but she is merely afraid of her own husband. Lois wakes up and makes breakfast, cleans up the house, does the washing and prepares dinner. The two don’t have dinner together because Clark always arrives late. Lois goes to bed by herself most nights and some nights she satisfies herself because the couple never have time to make love. However when they do get intimate with each other the couple lack creativity. Lois and Clarks sex life is like a library very boring and nothing exciting ever happens.

3 miles form Lois and Clarks house a new neighbour has just recently moved in. His name is Wolverine an ex soldier and superhero. Wolverine was once a member of the X-men and after loosing his wife he went awol. His wife was raped by 3 men and stabbed 15 times. Wolverine killed the three murderers including their families. However this was a long time ago back in 1990 and he was not charged but only kicked out from the X-men. Lois welcomes their only neighbour by baking him a banana cake. When Lois arrives at Wolverines house, the tough and scary man that everyone takes him for simply blushes, as he is shy. He opens the door and welcomes her in and takes the cake and her bag so that she wouldn’t have to carry anything to the kitchen. They sat down for a cup of tea wolverine was so fascinated at Lois is beauty because it had reminded him about his wife. Lois was admiring wolverines figure and she was talking very fast because she was nervous. She was getting turned on just starring a Wolverine, however Lois was trying to play it cool because she was unsure if he was interested. Wolverine was blinded by Lois is beauty and the two felt the chemistry immediately. Despite the sexual tension between the two Lois decides to leave as she comes back to her senses and realises that she is in a relationship. As they walk to the door they both reach for the handle and their hands touch and suddenly they both stop and look at each other. Wolverine looks into her eyes and grabs her closer to his body; they kiss and aggressively take each other’s clothes off. Everything has escalates quickly Lois is so lost in the moment she does not stop to think about what she is doing, however as they get more intimate with each other the more she forgets about the man of steel.

When Lois gets home she can’t stop thinking about wolverine. Her emotions skyrocket and she can’t stop cleaning the house, over and over again, wiping the benches, sweeping the floor, cleaning the windows and constantly moping the floor. The house is quiet which sets Lois is mood. She grabs a knife and holds it against her heart. Her hands are slippery from crying. Ashamed and embarrassed and her head and heart are in a constant battle with mixed emotions of what she did. She is so lost in her own mind that she can’t believe that it has come down to this. Lois has always been the type of girl that has always been committed in a relationship however what she did with Wolverine felt so right for her. She can’t stop thinking about what happen and she does not want to tell Clark but Lois knows that he deserves to know the truth. Lois comes to her senses and puts the knife down. Lois decides to be honest with Clark and see where their relationship stands. Someone knocks at the door and Lois quickly reacts to answering the door that she slips across the kitchen, as the floor was still wet from her moping and Lois knocks her head on the corner of the bench. Another knock and all you hear is silence and suddenly the floor is painted in red. The door opens and a man walks in and he is holding the superman suit and roses with a little card. Its Clark, he sees his wife on the floor bleeding he immediately flies her over to the hospital. Lois died that night, however the contents of Clarks letter was “Lois I quit being the worlds saviour all I want now is to save our relationship, I love you.”

Eleah's Fan Fiction Draft / Plan

Outline

I have chosen ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ by Audrey Niffeneger, as the canon for my fan-fiction. The fan fiction’s main protagonist is Alba, Henry & Claire’s daughter, who time-travels into the future and finds it difficult to return to her present.

Like her father, Alba is chrono-displaced, meaning she can’t control when or where she travels, and usually gets pulled back into the past, but rarely in the future, where there is a significance for them.

I will structure the story the way that the original book was. I will write the date, and the age of the characters, so the readers do not get confused. The readers will also be reading from Alba’s point of view. I am introducing a new character, Flynn, who doesn't believe and accept the idea o time-traveling.

Here are examples of fan-fiction for this book: Link 1. Link 2. Link 3. Link 4. Link 5.

Plot (so far) / Synopsis
16-year old Alba travels from 1997 to 2011. A few weeks later, she realises that she may be staying longer than she would want to.

Eventually, she meets Flynn, her 15-year old son in the future, who tells her how he thinks that his mother may be crazy, as she claims that she can once travel through time. She goes and seeks Flynn's mother, not realizing that she is an older version of herself, hoping that she has the solution, and stop time travelling.

Encounter

October 6, 1997 / March 2, 2011
(Alba is 16 & 30)

My footsteps as I sprint towards my bedroom create a loud thudding noise. I bury myself under my covers knowing that I will soon vanish and be pushed forwards or pulled backwards by Time. My hands and toes start to tingle, and suddenly they start to dissolve into the unknown.

I vanish completely and find myself standing in the middle of some small town. I think I’m still in Chicago. Unfortunately, I can’t bring anything with me whenever I time travel. Luckily, this town’s dry cleaning shop seems empty of people, but the machines are running, so I sneak in, stop one of it and hope there is something there that would keep me warm.

Walking towards a cafe, I decided to approach the man standing beside the door, lighting up his cigarette and ask him the date. His name tag states that his name is Flynn.

“Second of March,” he replies.

“What year are we in?” I hesitate

“What year are you from?” he mumbles sarcastically. “2011.”

Oh no. Why 2011?

May 19, 2011 * 4:15 PM

Somehow, I managed to settle down easier than I expected. I found my own flat and am working as a barista at a local café. Trying your best to blend in and not make much connection is harder than you would expect. Sometimes, I would keep on walking, hoping Time will pull me in at will. Still, I stay. I thought I’m simply stuck here, for no reason, until that afternoon where me and Flynn are just sitting on the steps of the café, during our break from work. There was an awkward eerie of silence before I understood why I travelled to the future.

“You know, sometimes I think me and Dad made the wrong decision admitting Mum in the rehab, but then I remember how many lies she can make up. She’s apparently chrono-displaced. She can supposedly time-travel and has met my granddad a few times, who by the way, died when she was five,” he rants.

Out of curiosity, I asked what her mother’s name is. He points at my nametag. Alba.

“What did you say she was diagnosed with? Chrono?”

“Chrono-displaced. Like, chronologically displaced. She supposedly gets pulled back or pushed forward by Time at will. She doesn’t know when or where she’s going, but she just does. Logically, I think it’s impossible. I mean how can someone’s body, disappear into small particles and travel and end up in another place at another time? If she can time travel, why haven’t I seen it? Oh right. Dr. Kendrick has made the cure.”

“Dr. Kendrick is?” I ask, though I know that he’s our geneticist.

“A geneticist. He apparently coined the term. I’ve never even met him. But apparently he was granddad’s doctor, too”

Hearing this made things easier to make sense of. His dark blue-grey eyes, ash-blonde hair, and freckles along the cheeks are resemblances of me. No wonder why people say we look like twins. But how do I explain time-travelling to someone who has rejected it all of his life.  His eyes widen when I tell him maybe he should believe him.

“Are you crazy? So what? You time-travel now, too, is that it?”

“There might be more to life than just logic you know. So, where is your mother now?”

“At a rehabilitation centre near this beach. Dad couldn’t bear the thought of her wife locked up in an asylum, so he sent her to a rehabilitation instead. I mean, maybe she really just needs a piece of mind.”

“But, Flynn. She’s telling you the truth. I’m her! I’m from 1997!” I scream out of disbelief.

May 27, 2011 *  2:27 PM

“Is there anyway we can just ask to let her out earlier than the rest? You said she has stopped time-travelling. I have to know how,” I demand.

“No. Unless you’re really desperate, then maybe you can somehow sneak it. Your older self claims that you’re an expert at picking locks. Or we can just wait. Or pay a visit.”

June 05, 2011 * 9:15 AM

The soft breeze gently kisses my skin as we drive by the ocean. My palms are sweaty, my heart’s beating fast and I swear I was going to disappear just then. But I didn’t. We enter through the gate and for a moment you would think that there’s nothing here but a jungle. There it is. It looks like a mansion from the outside, not a rehabilitation centre. As we enter through the steps, we are greeted by the receptionist.

A little later, a lady with long ash blonde hair and greyish-blue eyes enters the room. She smiles at me and I’m stunned to see my thirty-year old self. She turns to Flynn and pinches his cheek until they were flushed.

“I told you, you’re going to meet a younger version of me. I thought that was the only thing that could make you believe,” she says to her son.

“Okay okay, you can time travel. It’s still.. creepy. And I want to see you vanish”, Flynn replies.

 . . .

I ask my older self how can I stop time-travelling. She merely smiles at me and shakes her head.

“You do know that everything is going to be alright, don’t you? I don’t really want to tell you how you get me out here, because everyone should have their own adventures,” she says with a sly wink.

Daniel's FanFic Draft/Plan

TOPIC

My topic of choice is the movie "The Matrix" (1999).
I plan on creating a story chronicling the events before the first movie in the matrix series. I have outlined the basic plot from the original movie below, and will follow up with what I plan to do.

GENRE: SciFi/Cyberpunk

DISCLAIMER: the characters, names, and themes of this Fan fiction are the original work of Lana and Andy Wachowski, I do not own any rights to this material and only the ideas within this story are the original work of the author. The source material is taken from The Matrix (1999) and is copyrighted to Warner Brothers. Pictures. This Fanfiction is created purely for entertainment purposes and was inspired by my passion for The Matrix series and love for it's original creators, The Wachowski's.

SYNOPSIS

What we know, from the original "The Matrix" movie.

Earth no longer exists as we know it today. Due to technological advancement, Artificial Intelligence has surpassed Human control. The planet is now overrun by a Mecha of machines known as Sentinels. Humans are now an energy source, grown in pods to supply the machine run world with power.

While our physical bodies rest in pods and exist as human batteries, our minds are kept sedated, wired into a mass virtual reality computer program known as The Matrix. This is the world as we know it today, in which we live. Within The Matrix, humans live out "lives", none the wiser of their actual physical existence.

Deep below the surface of The Earth, near the core, exists "the last human city" known as Zion.  Here a faction of humans live as rebels fighting to regain Earth and to free others trapped in the virtual reality that is our daily lives.

A group of rebels lead by Morpheus, are living inconspicuously aboard a hover ship known as The Nebuchadnezzar, and are leading a mission in search for "The One". A messiah of sorts, powerful enough to defeat the machines, fight the agents (matrix law enforcers that appear as ultra powerful FBI agents) and set free human kind. This leads them to the discovery of Neo who may or may not be that one, as we learn there have been many "Ones" before him.

Morpheus and his crew of super hackers and computer programmers have found a way to hack the matrix  and re-enter the simulated reality, where their understanding of its true nature allows them to manipulate its physical laws, granting them superhuman abilities and acquire knowledge about almost anything.

WHAT I PLAN TO DO

I would like to tell the story as a series of events in 5 chapters or "episodes", up to the point before the discovery of Neo in the first movie. Elaborating on elusive plot details mentioned in the first movie such as exploring character relationships, and may start after the death of the previous "One". I also plan to introduce my own background on the character of Trinity, this might include her trip to The Oracle and what she was told as much of her story is left unexplained or ambiguous.

These are some Links to other Matrix Fanfictions, the general consensus for the matrix series when it comes to fanfic is that most people tend to use the same characters and invent continuation story lines, post movie canon. Others write alternative stories by entirely made up characters who might exist in the universal concept of The Matrix (as according to the movie, it goes through many "reboots" essentially starting a fresh.

I keep uploading  to my draft and then deleting it, mainly because my FanFic is Long...... I'm not sure what to put here now... Other than to go through the process of what I did... which was write this entire outline, and structure my fanfic as a 5 chapter story... this is obviously going to be over the word count.

Now, I have spent hours meticulously sifting through every line of every paragraph for every error, word and sentence/s that can be removed I have probably cut out 20 percent, from what I originally started with, and have also structured and re structured my sentences and para's so they flow better.

I think You will find it a compelling, and hopefully not TOO long of a read. As Chapter 2 is the second act perse it acts as the BULK of the story.... the rest is very simple and straight forward... but I really feel no less necessary.

FINDING NEO

EPISODE 1: False Idols.

That's another one dead, how much more can we take? Cypher is sitting at the ships control center, another mission failed. He thought Morpheus was a hard task master, or was it that he thought him a man of dreams. A dreamer who put too much hope in one man, one man to save us all? One man to free us from the machines, defeat the sentinels and beat the Agents, how could one person achieve all this? "The One", bullshit, its ridiculous. He was sick of it, but he better keep it to himself he thought. Morpheus was a god among men here, the beacon of hope, or was he just the king of dreams?

Morpheus: Cypher, un-jack me, we lost him. Such a pity it is... I had so much hope for this one. I truly believed.

Cypher sneered, you can't win em all Morph, we tried, he lasted longer than the previous one's, what happened?

Cypher un-jacked Morpheus, opening his eyes, he looked around, he was back in "the real world" he looked around the safety of his ship, he turned to see the lifeless body of the man in the chair next to him, another "One" gone, another hope lost.

Morpheus: What else? Agents. Too many of them, they moved much too fast, we couldn't hold them off... they're getting stronger. He's riddled with bullets... I wanted to help him, I just kept hoping....

Cypher: What? What did you think he could do Morpheus? Dodge bullets? That's impossible, this whole damn thing is IMPOSSIBLE!

Morpheus: Cypher, please. Un-jack him and let us put him to rest. I know you're losing hope, but it is not the way. We must believe in The One, he is out there, I know it. "Now let us gather, I have news... news of a new recruit. There is still hope, and she's waiting for us.

She? It had been a long time since Cypher had been in the company of a woman, the day he agreed to leave The Matrix, to be unplugged, the promise of "freedom" sounded good... power also sounded good. It wasn't until a year went by that Cypher truly missed what he had in the other world... sometimes he wondered if he was really free at all.

Cypher: Well, here's hoping we don't kill her too.

Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world? - Morpheus, The Matrix (1999)

EPISODE 2: The Holy Trinity

Morpheus gathers his crew and begins to explain the next mission. An associate upon another ship has received information of a computer programmer within the Matrix. Who, like many of Morpheus's other crew members, appears to be a skilled network hacker. This leads him to believe this person may be close to uncovering information about the matrix itself.

Morpheus: My friends, as we mourn the loss of our comrade I pray that you do not lose hope, we knew this would prove difficult and that sacrifices would be made. I pray that you continue to believe in the one and trust in me as I do you.

Apoc: Morpheus, we support you. We know the dangers, the hardships of the war, and we have all lost something but we know it is only because we are to gain so much more.

Morpheus: Thank you Apoc. Now, I have received news from The Logos that there exists a hacker within the Matrix who has come of some prominence. We believe she is on the brink of discovering its true nature and it is in our best interests to liberate her before the Agents discover her whereabouts.

Mouse: She? It's a girl? We're getting a girl??

Apoc (rolling his eyes) : Don't get too excited, I just cleaned this place.

Cypher: When was the last time you saw a woman Mouse? Your mama?

Mouse: As a matter of fact, no. Hey Morph, I just finished writing our best training program yet.

Apoc: Finally, you've been cuddling up with that thing for over a year now.

Mouse: Hey, shut up! Well it's finally finished, and it's gonna be incredible. You gotta see her... she's beautiful.

Morpheus: Very good Mouse, I look forward to simulating it. Apoc, prepare to load the matrix, Cypher and I will be entering shortly to meet Switch.

As Morpheus and Cypher materialize within the matrix, they are greeted by a striking blonde woman dressed in white. Switch from aboard The Logos, they enter a parked black car and Switch begins to drive, relaying information about their next destination.

Switch: Her name is Cassandra,  wanted by Federal Investigation for hacking the Internal Revenue Services data base. Once in, she initiated a search of specific names. First name on her list: Morpheus.

Morpheus: I see, and what else does she know?

Switch: I don't know, her server was cut before the search was complete. Morpheus... do you think she knows?

Morpheus: Yes.

Cypher:  She's a smart one. I like 'em smart!

Switch: We need to hurry, The Logos reported Agent activity 20 minutes ago.

Cypher: Oh shit.

Morpheus: Indeed.

The trio speed through the city streets they are being trailed by a another black car with tinted windows, a man in a suit and dark glasses leans out of the passenger window and begins to shoot, firing rapidly at the car ahead of them.

Switch begins to swerve, left and right weaving in and out of traffic as the Agents close in on them. Cypher leans out of the window and opens fire on the car.

An Agent climbs out of the passenger window, and leaps from the car bonnet landing on the roof of the speeding car. As he plunges his fist through the metal roof, Morpheus grabs his wrist and pulls the agent completely through and breaks his neck. He turns and pulls a Machine Gun from his cloak,
and shatters the rear window of the vehicle firing at the Agents' car obliterating the windscreen and spraying bullets into the body of the remaining Agent. The car loses control and skids off the road.

Switch: That was close.

Cypher: No shit!

As they make their way through a complex of executive apartments, Cypher notes how extravagant the area is, and with a gleam of envy in his eye remarks: "Nice, what you gotta be, a millionaire to live here?",  Switch, clearly- unimpressed states, "She works for the Deuteronomy Group", "Hmf, Lawyers... figures".

Switch: We're here,  level 16, room 1213.

Morpheus: Lets hope she's expecting us.

*

As the group enter her apartment they are greeted by a a slender fair skinned woman, dressed in black, Cassandra Mary-Teresa, Computer Programmer turned Lawyer. Gifted, intelligent and a well known ball breaker, she worked her way up the corporate ladder over the course of ten years proving herself a formidable force within the world of Law. Women feared her, Men wanted to be her, She however, believed there was more for her than this. On the eve of her promotion she left everything behind, cutting ties with everyone she knew. With short hair and refined features, she spoke with a soft but stern tone, to which Morpheus responded with calm and ease.

Cassandra: Can I help you?

Morpheus: Yes. I believe you have been looking for me, Cassandra.

Cassandra: You know who I am?

Switch: Yes, we know you were born here, never married, parents deceased. Started your life as a proficient computer programmer but chose to craft an impressive career in Law, most peculiarly you left your job  6 months ago for seemingly no reason at all. You've managed to keep a low profile. Until a few days ago you tried to break into the IRS' database and now find yourself on the F.I's list of most wanted cyber criminals, did you know that?

Cassandra: Okay, so you've been spying on me... what are you Central Intelligence? Or let me guess Federal Investigation? Whatever it is why don't you arrest me and get this over with, or shall I sit down and we can discuss my childhood as well?

Morpheus: That won't be necessary, and we are neither of these. What we really want to know is what you know.

Cassandra: and what exactly do I know?

Cypher: How about you tell us why you quit your job... by the looks of it you were doing pretty good.

Cassandra: They wanted to make me partner and from there,  government. I would have been groomed to make Solicitor General. I never really wanted this job but I was good at it. I've grown to hate the systems corruption and lies. I made a career out of defending conglomerate criminals, It didn't feel right. I had been searching for an excuse, a way out... the night before my promotion I had a dream.

Morpheus: and what did you see?

Cassandra: My parents were devout, but i've never believed in god, or at least I didn't.  In the dream I met God, he told me I was lost and that when I found him I would be free, I felt it was a sign.

Morpheus: It was just a dream, i'm sure you've had many before... why now why this dream?

Cassandra: It didn't end there. After we spoke I woke up, only I wasn't here... I was there except I don't know where there was. There were buildings, like this one but different, they glowed, like a pulsating city of light and it was dark. There were these things, like monsters... and suddenly my eyes closed and I was here, I was awake.

When I woke up it was as if I had been awake the whole time. I could still feel it on my skin, it felt real like I had just been there. I've never forgotten it, and ever since then I've felt that i'm not really here. For the last 6 months I've devoted myself to a life of spirituality, in search of meaning.

Morpheus: Machines. The monsters you saw in your dream, they were machines.

Cassandra: Yes. They were machines... how did you know.

Morpheus: Because it wasn't a dream, I believe it was reality.

Cassandra: What do you mean? It can't be reality... they were like robots, and the glowing lights... they were like pods, how could that be real?

Morpheus: What you saw was a glimpse of our world.

Cassandra: Your world?

Morpheus: The real world. You've seen it haven't you? The world inside your dreams, you've been back there in your mind trying to understand it. I'm here to help you... understand it.

Cassandra: You're Morpheus aren't you? I didn't think you were real. I've been, trying to find you.

Morpheus: That may be... but I think, it is not I whom fuels your search more so than it is what.

What are you looking for?

What is it that drives you?

What do you truly want to know?

"God he's good", Cypher whispers to Switch and Morpheus takes this as his cue to introduce themselves properly. "I'd like you to meet Cypher, and this is Switch. It is her who has been spying on you, but I assure you it was necessary, and I indeed, am Morpheus, and I'm going to tell you the truth".

Cassandra thought this couldn't possibly be happening to her. This was Morpheus, and if he was real then the questions she had must be real too... the things she had seen, in her dreams. Could they truly be real also?

Cassandra: The truth? You're telling me that what I've seen is real.

Morpheus: Yes.

Cassandra: If what I saw in my dream was your world then...  where am I?

Morpheus: At this very moment you exist as a projection of your physical self. Our bodies exist on Earth but not as you know it. The entire world around you is nothing more than an illusion of what used to be real. What you see here, what you feel, what you believe, is a lie. Right now, we and everyone else around us are plugged into a network, a system, essentially wiring us here to this place, a prison for your mind.

Cassandra: the Matrix.

Morpheus: Thats right.

Cassandra: What is it?

Morpheus: A highly advanced computer simulation that mimics the real world as it was at the peak of civilisation. It is designed to sedate the human mind and make it believe it is a real, living, breathing human being. I appear to you now as a representation of my self within the Matrix, the difference is I exist within the confines of my ship and may come and go as I please. You however, are a slave, dormant among others supplying energy.

Cassandra: Energy for what?

Morpheus: The Machines.

Cassandra: They're real?

Morpheus: Yes. What you experienced is known as a Blur. It is extremely rare, it occurs when your body has awoken momentarily within its bounds, and has glimpsed the world around you. We believe it is the human mind trying to fight back.

Cassandra: Alright, lets cut to the chase, how do I get out?

Morpheus: With my help.

You have a choice. I offer you the Red Pill and release your mind from this world and bring you into the true world. Or you take the Blue Pill, wake up, resume your life wasting your skills with nothing but a distant memory of this encounter. Forever wondering what it is in the back of your mind telling you there's something not right about the dream you're living in.

Cassandra: If I take the Red Pill, what happens to me?

Morpheus: The pill is a tracing program that disrupts the carrier signal of your mind, sending commands that force your incubator to go offline, you wake up and my hover craft will retrieve you.

Cassandra: Will I ever be able to come back to this place?

Morpheus: Yes, but not as you were before. You'll be better, stronger, ... free. Now Cassandra, which do you choose?

Cassandra: I choose freedom.

As Cassandra swallows the red pill  the room begins to twist and morph out of shape distorting  the images of everything around her. As the world begins to grow distant she closes her eyes and darkness fills the void, silence fills the air and she hears nothing but her own thoughts. Unaware of where she might be, the sound of her own voice whispers, "Open your eyes". Her eyes shoot open as if she were waking from a bad dream, her eyes sting, her skin is bare. A mechanical sound reverberates through the air. She sits up from her pod, cables protruding from her arms, her back, the base of her skull.

The air around her is frigid, frightened she can do nothing but stare out among the sea of human pods, like a field of red crops.

*

Mouse: She's awake.

Morpheus: Track her signal, she will be flushed any moment now.

Apoc: There, she's in the high rise complex. The Power Plant.

Cypher: Lets get over there before it's too late!

Apoc: Not yet, she should be entering the waste system any second.

Mouse: There!

Apoc manoeuvres the hover craft over a pit of pipes, as Cassandra's body falls from a waste pipe the Nebuchadnezzar lowers a mechanical arm and grabs her body and retracts into the ship.

three days pass within the ships infirmary, Cassandra's body lays in an incubation chamber slowly rebuilding her muscles. Cypher is fascinated by the woman before him. Slender with skin like porcelain, something told him that he knew if he could touch her, he might never see his hand again, Apoc tends to her gently.

Cypher: Did it take me this long to rebuild?

Apoc: It took you much longer.

Cypher: God she's beautiful, don't you think?

Apoc: She's special.

Cypher: What do you think Morpheus has planned for her?

Mouse entered the room, "he's going to take her through the training program of course. I bet she's good".

Morpheus: Yes, she is. She doesn't know it yet but she's going to be one of our finest assets. She will prove integral in finding The One, we won't be able to do it without her. Yes, She told me she would be special.

Mouse: Morpheus... now that she's free, what are we going to call her?

Morpheus: Trinity.

I know why you're here, Neo. I know what you've been doing... You're looking for him. I know because I was once looking for the same thing. And when he found me, he told me I wasn't really looking for him. I was looking for an answer. It's the question that drives us, Neo. It's the question that brought you here. You know the question, just as I did.

EPISODE 3: The Oracle

A month had passed since Trinity had been freed she adjusted well to her new life and she grew fond of her new family and to Morpheus himself. She had proven to be skilled in many ways, a strong decision maker, a fierce leader, and her mastery over combat was so far unmatched except by Morpheus himself. The crew had never seen anything like it, and Morpheus began to sense great things. The time had come for her to see The Oracle.

Trinity wondered what the Oracle was about. Did she really have the power to predict the future? She couldn't help but wonder what She might have to tell her. As they arrived at the Oracle's home she also couldn't help wonder what the hell she was doing here. Morpheus enters the room, The Oracle moves towards him, greeting him with a hug.

The Oracle: Ah Morpheus, it's been a long time. Would you like a candy?

Morpheus: Oracle, it's good to see you. No thank you.

The Oracle: You're not happy. What's the matter?

Morpheus: You mean you don't know?

The Oracle: Of course I know, I can still ask can't I? Are you sure? It's a lemon drop, delicious.

Morpheus: Oracle, excuse my impatience but-

The Oracle: I know, I know. You want to know if you're ever going to find The One. Ahhh, Morpheus. You bear the weight of the world on your shoulders.

Morpheus: Not the world, Zion is counting on me.

The Oracle: Zion has waited this long, they can wait a little more… You're going to find The One, Morpheus. You've always been the one to find him.

Morpheus: I thought I had, he passed the tests but the fight proved more difficult than anticipated. I wanted to help him but it was too late, now he's gone.

The Oracle: He wasn't The One.

Morpheus: How will I know?

The Oracle: Well, there is no way to know for sure... you must believe.

The Oracle pressed her hand to Morpheus' cheek and with a loving smile she assured him.

Morpheus: Now, I have someone I'd like you to meet.

The Oracle: Yes, send her in.

The Oracle casts Morpheus a knowing look as he departs the room. Trinity entered and looked around sceptically, the Oracle appeared to be an African American woman in her late 60's, she could have been your typical grandmother who lived next door and she kept a plate of cookies on the kitchen table, freshly baked.

The Oracle: Hello Trinity. Not all quite what you imagined am I? Please, have a seat. You must have a lot of questions, they always do.

Trinity: Will Morpheus really find The One?

The Oracle: Oh yes, yes he will.

Trinity: How do you know?

The Oracle: It's my job to know... You won't believe me, but he's going to be the love of your life.

Trinity shifted uncomfortably from her seat, cynically, she asked the Oracle: “is it going to be hard?”

The Oracle: Oh yes, most definitely. But remember, you have a choice.

Trinity: to fight?

The Oracle: to fall in love.

Trinity fell silent; the Oracle exchanges a tender smile with her and she leaves the room. Outside Morpheus and Cypher are waiting, curiously Cypher asks: “what did she tell you?”

Trinity: She told me what I needed to hear.

As Morpheus motions for them to leave Cypher questions where they are going next, to which Morpheus simply replies, "Home".

EPISODE 4: Zion

Deep beneath the Earth, away from the decimation of the surface, close to the core, thrives Zion. The last human city. The people of Zion revered Morpheus as a bringer of hope and a strong leader of the Resistance. It had been months since Morpheus left on his journey and he had left many behind.

Niobe: Where the hell do you think you've been? Look at you.

Morpheus: I'm aware I appear a little worse for wear, I'm OK truly. It's not the first time. It was the first time without you however...

Niobe: and it's the last time!

Morpheus: you're leaving the Nebuchadnezzar?

Niobe: yes, and that's not all i'm leaving.

Morpheus: Niobe...

Niobe: don't, you could have gotten yourself killed out there, you already lost another potential. This... obsession with the one, Morpheus... when does it end?

Morpheus: It ends when I find the one, Niobe I thought you understood.

Niobe: Oh I understand Morpheus, I understand that this... mission, this DESTINY of yours is all you can think about.

Niobe changed her tone, she didn't want to hurt Morpheus but it was hurting her more knowing she was losing the man she loved, fighting for something she wasn't sure she believed in.

Niobe: Morpheus, look at me. I love you but I don't wanna be on that ship watching you die for a man who may or may not exist.

Morpheus: We could all die Niobe, you know that. We're in the middle of a war. We're fighting for freedom, for Zion. The Oracle told me...

Niobe: I know what The Oracle told you, but I won't do this any more. Commander Lock has asked me to pilot The Logos, and I've agreed. I'm going to do it.

Morpheus: As you wish. Far be it for me to stop you, you have served my cause and I failed to realise I have not been serving you. Does this mean I'm going to lose you?

Niobe: It means you're going to have to find a new first mate, and I know she better be as good as I was.

Morpheus: She will be just fine.

Morpheus and Niobe share a tender embrace and kiss, with all her love Niobe let go of him knowing the man she loved was fighting for what he believed in and at the same time sacrificing what he loved the most, her.

Niobe: Now, you better go, your people are waiting for you.
*

Morpheus:

Zion! These past months have not been easy, I wont lie to you. The war grows harder everyday and we have lost another member of our resistance. He was strong and he was loved by many and we will remember him for his dedication to our freedom.

Although we risk much, we will continue to free those we can, and whom want to be free!

You all know of the prophecy which I have been told and the search for the One grows dangerous but I promise you I will do everything within my power to do what I have been told to do.

I will not rest until I find the One, I will not fail you.

Not long after Morpheus delivered his speech, he is approached by two brothers, of Zion. Both compelled by his words, and inspired to join his ship.

Tank: Captain Morpheus, I am Tank and It would be an honour sir, if we may serve on your ship. I am fluent in code and a skilled program operator and my brother Dozer can fly almost anything.

Dozer: My technique in rebuilding has also proven to be efficient.

Tank: and if I may say so, I am your biggest fan.

Morpheus: Men it would be my honour to have you aboard my ship, I only ask that you prepare your loved ones for a long departure. You may never see them again.

As Morpheus heads towards his home... a familiar voice sounds behind him, he turns to see Switch, who had been awaiting his arrival.

Switch: Morpheus, I too would like to join The Nebuchadnezzar  I have spoken with Captain Niobe and she has agreed to let me depart.

Morpheus: Switch, I would be delighted to have you aboard. Trinity will undoubtedly benefit from your company also.

Switch, Apoc, Dozer, Trinity, Mouse.

Tank, Cypher, Dozer, Trinity.
